We are very excited to announce that Musicians Without Borders has been selected as a 2023 recipient of BBT Communities funding!

The award supports the Rwanda Youth Music program, enabling us to employ the team of young Community Music Leaders to bring music to communities affected by poverty, HIV, and facing a lack of creative opportunities. With this support, the team will run music workshops and provide music lessons to 1000s of children, continue a program of musical support for young people living with HIV, and train a new cohort of music leaders for the future.

We are proud of this new collaboration. The co-founder of BBT, Ilaria Borletti Buitoni, has supported and worked her whole life with diverse charities internationally, including important music and cultural organisations in Italy and Europe. She knows very well how music can make a positive impact and promote wellbeing in disadvantaged communities:

“I notice a growing number of musically trained people, including our young musicians, who are very serious about finding ways to share their talent and skills with disadvantaged sectors of the population for whom it is not so easy to go to concerts – and they recognise the mutual benefits of doing this. I want to do all I can to encourage and support this exchange of music and the joy that sharing it can bring to everybody concerned.”
