This summer, workshop leaders Mohammed and Diya have been hosting rap workshops for girls of the Deheisheh an Aida refugee camps.

After hearing Mohammed rap, a group of girls wanted to learn too. Mohammed commented: “We give them the opportunity to make music, write things, create… These girls have stories to tell.”

But before you hear the stories, you hear the group’s loud fits of laughter that escape the workshop room. And though they bring a lot of fun to rap workshops, their purpose is crystal clear: they want to learn and explore their passion.

During the introduction activity, the girls seemed a bit shy. A few brave girls accepted the challenge to freestyle about themselves. The other girls soon rushed to pens and papers to compose their own rhymes.
