Over the past few months, young musicians from the Bara’em Ghirass program in Palestine have been rehearsing a new show, which brings the story of the traditional Palestinian wedding to life through song and spoken word.
Now, they have started to take the show on the road to camps and villages surrounding Bethlehem!
The performances so far have been thoroughly enjoyed by the children in attendance, who have joined in with interactive segments and clapped along with a lot of enthusiasm.
We create and arrange shows such as this at Bara’em Ghirass in order to give younger generations of Palestinians tangible links to their cultural heritage. Occupying forces in the West Bank often seek to censor and erase Palestinian traditions. But through programs like this, we can help keep them alive.
