With the rising hostilities instigated by Israel and heightened by Iran and the US, we stand firmly against escalation from any side.
Using the language of security and self-defence, our political leaders are setting course for escalation, war, and incalculable loss of and damage to human life.
Perpetual war is unsustainable, self-destructive, and should never be any nation’s policy. Civilians across the world have the right to peace and security, and this ever-expanding war will only lead to more suffering and increase political and economic instability. War’s enormous environmental cost, which is too often ignored, will worsen the global climate crisis, leading to still more instability and suffering.
Israeli missiles are being fired at apartment buildings, killing a young dancer, a poet, babies, and grandparents, among many other civilians. This is a direct violation of the Geneva Convention. Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza seems to have normalized the killing of civilians en masse, pushing towards the erasure of the principles laid out as red lines in 1948, when the global community declared: “Never again.”
We support a diplomatic end to these escalations, in collaboration with international partners and the wider global community.
We stand against military and diplomatic support to Israel from Western governments. Western interference in the Middle East has an ugly history, one that should not be repeated. And we stand for enforcement of international law, including the enforcement of the arrest warrants for Israeli politicians found guilty of war crimes by the International Criminal Court.
We stand with Israeli citizens who stand up to their government and demand an immediate ceasefire on all fronts.
We stand with the millions of people around the world who are standing up in protest and reminding us of our shared humanity.
We continue to raise our voices and call for an end to the genocide in Gaza.
No matter what, we will always stand against violence and on the side of justice and peace.
