It’s safe to say that 2024 has been largely defined by conflict, division, and for many, a sense of powerlessness. But despite this, we are continuing to use the power of music as a tool to build resilience, bringing it to areas and people who are denied it, and to build bridges between communities.
Despite escalations, tensions, and bad news, we at Musicians Without Borders have continued with our mission to use music as a tool for peace, with a lot of success over the past year. In the Balkans, our Music Connects programme has continued to bring young people together across ethnic divides to produce some truly amazing music, and our Welcome Notes programmes in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Netherlands has helped people on the move to have a creative outlet and speak about their journeys. In Palestine, we have continued wherever possible to bring music to the lives of children living in the occupied West Bank. In the DRC, we have been able to run weekly music workshops for internally-displaced children. And much more elsewhere too!
We can all agree that the world needs more unity, and this is why we’re raising urgently needed support for our peacebuilding programs around the world. Music is one of the best ways to bring people together, and our experiences show that music can be used as a positive tool, helping people find moments of joy, stability, and light.
But our programs need funding, not just to keep them running, but to reach even more people across the globe, which is why we have launched our Winter campaign.
Our fundraising goals for this campaign are
- Raising €75.000 between November 2024 and January 2025.
- Gaining 30 new Friends for our organization during this campaign. These recurring donors support our work in a sustainable way, and donate 10 euros or more each month.
With the help of two of our amazing long-supporting philanthropic partners, the first €25,000 donated to this campaign will be matched by them, meaning that all early donations will have twice the impact.
