Meet Saúl Gestoni, an arts teacher who joined our training program, Soy Música, in El Salvador.

Those who like millions of Salvadorans have been impacted by war know that the mere absence of physical violence is a poor substitute for true peace.

In March we were invited by Unicef El Salvador and the Ministerio de Educacion E.S. to assess the needs and structure for a community music leadership training in El Salvador. The aim is to address the high level of violence in the country and reach thousands of children using music as a tool for community building, reducing violence, and bringing hope.

During the week we visited several community and cultural centers, running workshops with children, and structuring the program to start later this year.

We would like to thank the following centers for welcoming and sharing their music with us:
Centro Cultural Pablo Tesak,
Armonia Cuscatleca,
Centro Arte para la Paz,
Centro de Arte y Cultura, Escuela de Música “Paco Cutumay”
