The Adolf Busch Award honored MwB with a special prize, recognizing us as an “exceptional organization doing important work by using music to create a more civil and just society.”

From January 30 till February 5, expert band coach Eric Coenen coached our mixed bands in Mitrovica. The bands come together for songwriting weeks almost every month, with some planning extra rehearsals outside the weeks.

In January, we returned to Northern Ireland to continue training local musicians and community workers to become community music leaders. The Music Bridge program, run in partnership with Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin, aims to address the consequences of the Northern Ireland conflict. Through music we bridge divides and create empathic connections that help to rebuild a more resilient and peaceful society.

Last weekend, we ran our third Welcome Notes training at the Spring House in Amsterdam, reaching over 20 musicians from the UK, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. The training was led by Otto de Jong, Hanno Tomassen and special guest Darren Abrahams of Crisis Classroom.

In January 30 trainee Community Music Leaders came together for a week focussed on creativity in music-making. This meant developing their own creativity, and also inviting the creativity of children participating in their workshops.
