Using music to bridge divides, connect communities,
and heal the wounds of war and conflict.

We are grateful for the many requests we receive to volunteer in our projects. The contexts in which Musicians without Borders work are often fragile and challenging. Resources can be limited, and the difficulties faced by people can be extreme.  The trust that has been developed with our partners and their beneficiaries is vital, and the well-being of participants in our programs is always our primary concern.  When we do have occasional openings for volunteers in our international projects, we have to consider any placement of personnel very carefully.

Please review the following requirements for volunteering before submitting an inquiry to us:

  • Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Volunteers must have at least three years of experience in community music work, preferably connected to social activism, community and international development.
  • Volunteers must be aware of the risks involved and responsible for their own costs, health and safety during their placement.
  • International (volunteer) work or travel experience is preferred, but not required.

When submitting an inquiry, please include a detailed CV and cover letter to

Please note that fulfillment of these requirements does not guarantee a placement within any of our projects.
