Musicians Without Borders is looking for a Finance Administrator to support our work around the world, transforming the lives of people affected by war and armed conflict, and building a network of activist musicians creating social change through music.
Musicians Without Borders is an international organization that uses the power of music to bridge divides, connect communities, and heal wounds of war. We implement social change projects, develop methodologies, and organize training courses about community building, reconciliation, and healing through music.
Musicians Without Borders currently runs projects located in the Western Balkans (Kosovo, North Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina), the Middle East (Palestine, Jordan), East Africa (Rwanda, Democratic Republic of the Congo), and with refugees in Europe. We also deliver training in the Netherlands, Germany, and the UK.
Deliverables overview:
We are seeking an experienced and reliable Finance Administrator to join our dynamic team in Amsterdam. In this role, you will ensure financial accuracy across our projects and organization, helping to keep everything balanced, compliant, and running smoothly.
Your role will be:
- Prepare and accurately record day-to-day financial transactions of the organization and projects using the accounting software Exact Online,
- Reconcile accounts to assert the accuracy of transactions,
- Prepare annual (project) budgets, quarterly financial reports, and liquidity forecasts for the Executive Board,
- Support project managers with budgeting, financial analysis, monitoring, and donor and partner reporting,
- Ensure that financial information, documentation, and accounting for the organization and its projects is complete, accurate, and auditable,
- Coordinate and, over time, lead the annual financial audits, maintaining strong relationships with external auditors and ensuring compliance with financial reporting and regulatory requirements,
- In cooperation with Program Managers, monitor, analyze, and investigate any variances from the approved budget,
- Support the month-end and year-end reporting process, including the preparation of P&L statements, balance sheets, and statutory financial accounts,
- Support and apply knowledge of the organization’s compliance with Dutch governance and reporting requirements, including ANBI obligations, UBO registrations, and relevant regulatory filings,
- Support the continuous improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting and financial processes,
- Oversee grants administration, including donor agreements and donations, and contribute to updating organizational policies and procedures,
- Provide general support to office management, including in HR and compliance matters.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Affinity with Musicians Without Borders ’ mission and values
- Strong numerical skills and Excel proficiency
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Independent, proactive, and solution-oriented
Education and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent,
- Proven accounting experience,
- Minimum of 2-3 years in a financial role,
- Experience at NGOs is an advantage,
- Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting principles, financial accounting standards, management accounting techniques, internal and external audit standards,
- Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records,
- Hands-on experience with spreadsheets (advanced level Excel) and accounting software is a must,
- Proficiency in written and spoken Dutch and English, knowledge of another language is an advantage.

- A gross monthly salary between EUR 3,000 and EUR 3,600 based on full-time engagement.
- A 24- to 32-hour-per-week, one-year contract, with the possibility of extension.
