In September 2015 we began training a group of 32 young people from Mahama refugee camp to be MwB Community Music Leaders. 15 trainees are cultural performers, 15 are child protection workers, and 2 are staff members from our partner organisation PLAN International Rwanda.
Mahama camp was established early in 2015 for refugees arriving from Burundi, and now is home to 45,000 people.
This year we are training 30 young Rwandans in Community Music Leadership. These young leaders work with thousands of vulnerable children across the country. After graduation, they will engage in our outreach program, visiting different communities in Rwanda, and some will join our trainers as assistant trainers in future trainings.
