Keeping Connection at Distance
April 17, 2020   Rwanda

As in countries around the world, Rwanda is currently imposing strict social distancing regulations, with the aim of suppressing the spread of Covid-19. Movement is very limited, with people strongly encouraged to stay at home. Borders are closed. During this time, we are working to continue providing support, activity, and relief for the young people with whom we work.

Our training program for Community Music Leaders has already moved online, with trainers sharing video lessons and students sending back their efforts for feedback. Here’s a lesson given this week by Musicians Without Borders trainer Espoir Rukengeza.

These young music leaders work every week with 100s of children and youth from marginalised communities, including young people living with HIV, former street children, those with needs for learning support, and people facing challenges due to poverty. They are working hard now to find new and creative ways to continue that musical connection.
