The lyrics of mixed Mitrovica Rock School band Morana

Morana is an ethnically mixed gloom rock band of our Mitrovica Rock School, lead by front man Luka Joksimović.

Morana. From left to right: Luan, Dardan, Luka and Nemanja

Luka on his lyrics:

The point of my lyrics, and our music as a whole, is comfort. Comfort is a strange word to use when confronted with something that is essentially sad in nature, but as we feel pain, we seek comfort, be it in the soft words of a close friend, be it in the arms of a lover, or through music.

So, to that end, my hope is that when someone hears our songs, our lyrics, that they do not feel sadness. I wish for them to think “Someone understands me”. Be it one person or many, as long as they know they are not alone.

Shallow Graves

There she is, she inhales another morning
And she looks around her room
As if waiting for something…or someone
There were times when she would rise
To the smell of Marlboro Gold
And silently she cries
His bedside feels so cold…so cold…so cold

And misty eyes said their goodbyes
For shallow graves below the sky
Solemnly we hope to fill
The holes that breathe within us still

There he is, he inhales another morning
And he dresses all in black, simply by choice
Morning always brings to mind
Her face…and her voice
And he doesn’t know what to do
He tells himself he’s fine
He’s not the one who’s buried, but he doesn’t feel alive

Misty eyes said their goodbyes
To shallow graves below the sky
Solemnly we hope to fill
The holes that breathe within us still

There they are, they inhale another morning
And they hope the pain will pass
But they miss the wailing…and the rocking
There were times when they would smile
Wake up in the middle of the night
And hold him for a while
Now silently they weep
The box was small so the price was cheap

And misty eyes said their goodbyes
For shallow graves below the sky
Solemnly we hope to fill
The holes that breathe within us still

So here we are
We inhale another morning
And we learn to live without
A part of us we never cherished…until it was gone
So tell me now, have you ever felt sorrow
Wrap around your neck
And choke your every breath
I wonder every day, whether it will go away
Can it hurt a little less?
It’s already turned me into a mess
Maybe it will be a bit better tomorrow

And misty eyes said their goodbyes
For shallow graves below the sky
We’re told to live one day at a time
But who will wash away the grime?

Celebrate the days you shared
Feel glad, for you know they cared
Plant some flowers where they lie
The shallow graves beneath the sky
