On Saturday June 17, our mixed bands wrapped up the 2016-2017 school year with a final concert in Hamam Jazz Bar in Pristina. It was the 11th concert of ethnically mixed bands to take place in Kosovo, something that we considered too risky until only a year ago. Mixed bands High Frequency, Proximity Mine, Minor Chord, I.F.O. and brand-new Rootless gave all they had in front of a super supportive audience from Mitrovica and Pristina.
The concert was held close to World Wide Music Day (June 21), celebrated by Musicians without Borders’ friends and supporters – as well as many others – around the world. We presented a CD to those in attendance, which was released on Soundcloud for those who couldn’t make it.
During this school year (which is still ongoing!):
A huge thanks to our bands and band coaches for making this such a great school year, and to the Stability Pact Fund and German Embassy in Pristina, the Robert Bosch Stiftung, Haella Stichting, and the D’Addario Foundation for supporting us.
We look forward very much to our new project for mixed bands supported by the Swiss Cooperation Office in Kosovo, as well as our annual Summer School in Skopje from August 20 to 27.
