Mitrovica Rocks on World Wide Music Day
June 18, 2015   West Balkans

The Mitrovica Rock School will celebrate World Wide Music Day on Sunday June 21st with a CD presentation of its Ambassador bands at both branches of the school.

World Wide Music Day (Fete de la Musique) is celebrated on June 21 every year in 700 cities around the world, promoting the idea that music is a basic human right and should be available to everyone everywhere. This year, 41 young musicians from the Mitrovica Rock School will put their city on the World Wide Music Day map.

Since 2008, the Mitrovica Rock School has made pop and rock music available to youth on both sides of the divided city, bringing young people together through their shared passion for music. The Rock School’s Ambassador Bands are ethnically mixed bands comprised of the most talented young musicians from the school’s north and south branches.

Although the Ambassador Bands cannot perform together yet in their own city, all of the young musicians will perform in other formations, presenting their CD as ‘together’ as possible, and letting the music be the bridge.
