On Friday March 6th, a benefit evening will be held in the Dominicuskerk in Amsterdam. Jewish, Muslim and Christian musicians will perform under the motto: “Together for a culture of peace.” This evening makes a statement against the current climate of fear for ‘the other’.

Music and Words

The organizers – the Dominicuskerk, and Ekklesia Amsterdam – and the musicians of Musicians without Borders and Music and Beyond invite everyone to attend and show their solidarity with refugees.

Big names

Among the musicians performing this evening are such names as singer Shura Lipovsky, viola player Oene van Geel, ud player Goran Monir and pianist Marion Tilzer. Speakers are Eduard Nazarski (Director, Amnesty Netherlands), Simone Filippini (director Cordaid) and Rehab Kallof (Syrian refugee). The emcee of the evening is Manuela Kalsky (director DSTS / Nieuw wij)

Culture of peace

In a time of growing polarization, musicians, speakers and organizers stand together for the victims of war and a culture of togetherness. Together they raise money for refugees, and together they stand against the politics of fear and for a diverse society in which everyone can feel safe – also in the Netherlands.

The number of refugees worldwide is almost impossible to comprehend – 50 million people are fleeing war and persecution. In Syria and Northern Iraq alone, there are over 12 million people dependent on foreign aid to survive. This evening gives everyone the opportunity to contribute to this aid. Proceeds go Cordaid’s emergency fund for refugees in Syria and Northern Iraq.
