Finding Freedom Through Music

This past Saturday, our friend and collaborator Eugene Skeef led an inspiring workshop focusing on creative play and music making with the Music Bridge trainees. His uplifting presence invited the trainees to build upon the foundation of group connectedness formed during the first training.

Participants described the experience as “freeing,” allowing them to let go of their inhibitions through trust-building and improvisation activities. Two trainees found success in co-leading a group improvisation despite never having led such an experience before.

A poem by Christopher Logue was shared with participants, capturing the spirit of the workshop and the courage of the trainees to push the boundaries of their skills and knowledge:

“Come to the edge,” he said.
“We’re afraid,” they said.

“Come to the edge,” he said.
“We’ll fall,” they said.

“Come to the edge,” he said.
And they did.

And he pushed them.
And they flew.
