The Mitrovica Rock School is preparing for the seventh edition of its annual summer school in Skopje, Macedonia: the 2014 Ambassador Band Camp. The Rock School’s mixed Ambassador Bands have been writing songs together for months, and will finally play *together* for the first time at the Band Camp. In Skopje, they will finish their songs, record them and present them to a live audience.
A professional jury will judge their performances. The bands can win songwriting weeks and tours, travelling to the Netherlands, Berlin and Skopje. The different tours represent different aspects of musicianship, and will be awarded to the bands based on their musical strong points.
Senior Band Award: a tour of Berlin in October 2014 and a recording week in the Netherlands in the spring of 2015. On this track, the focus will be on performance and studio recording.
Unplugged Award: a week of songwriting, arranging and unplugged performance in Skopje in October 2014, and a week of performing in Berlin. On this track, the focus will be on songwriting and arranging, especially for unplugged performances. This band will be paired with Schism.
Studio Award: a half-week of intensive songwriting and band coaching in Skopje in January/February 2015 and a recording week in the Netherlands in the spring of 2015. On this track, the focus will be on songwriting and studio recording.
The bands will be evaluated by senior Fontys Rockacademie guitar professor Ronald Seerden. The final concert will be held on August 29, 2014, from 9 p.m. onwards, at Havana Summer Club in the Skopje City Park.
