In Europe’s most divided city, Mitrovica in Kosovo, the conflict between Serb and Albanian communities still continues with barricaded bridges over the Ibar river, increased tensions and regular outbursts of violence. Musicians without Borders and partners CBM, IKV Pax Christi and the Fontys Rock Academy have successfully run an interethnic youth project since 2008.
The Summer School is a pivotal part of interethnic cooperation in Mitrovica. This 7-day program brings some 40 young musicians from north and south Mitrovica together with 40 youth from Mostar to form mixed bands and to produce and perform a major outdoor concert.
