and heal the wounds of war and conflict.
In Europe’s most divided city, Mitrovica in Kosovo, the conflict between Serb and Albanian communities still continues with barricaded bridges over the Ibar river, increased tensions and regular outbursts of violence. Musicians without Borders and partners CBM, IKV Pax Christi and the Fontys Rock Academy have successfully run an interethnic youth project since 2008.
The Rock School has a talent development program for mixed bands called the Ambassador Band Program. The first Ambassador Band was the Artchitects, which received much international recognition both for their music and for their roles as ambassadors for interethnic cooperation. In 2013, new Rock School students from north and south Mitrovica can apply and be selected to form a mixed band with students from the other side of the city. In Mitrovica, the bands work together via the internet, writing songs and producing demo recordings. The band will tour and perform at festivals and youth clubs in Macedonia, The Netherlands, Italy and Germany.
