Pop/Rock School in Mitrovica

Despite the considerable political tension and uncertainty concerning the status of Kosovo, the Pop-Rock School in Mitrovica is beginning to take shape. The Instrument Fund has already sent three pallets of instruments, thanks to collections held in various music schools. By sending a request to the Belgian Ministry of Defense, project manager Pieter van Lier, involved with the project from the beginning, managed to persuade CIMIC (Civil Military Co-operation) to organize the shipment. So even the logistics have been facilitated through international co-operation!

Fundraising a great success!
We are proud that our fundraising effort, together with the Dutch foundation Wilde Ganzen, has been a great success. A number of bands, choirs and ensembles held benefit concerts for MwB. The goal was €5000 (US$7,500), which was then tripled by the Wilde Ganzen. There is now €15,000 (US$22,500) available for the Pop School! Our thanks go to all the donors to this project!

Thanks also to the Rock Academy in Tilburg, which has joined ranks to help develop and support the project by providing instructors.

Now we must see what happens in Kosovo in the coming months. Meanwhile, MwB is in discussions with our partner organization, CBM (Community Building Mitrovica), about next steps.
