MwB Ensembles to Perform at International Diversity Conference

On 6 July 2007, Musicians without Borders will perform at the closing ceremonies of “Turning Diversity to Prosperity”, the 2007 International Diversity Conference. MwB will be represented by master percussionists Sherwin Kirindongo, Chris Colleye, Ifor Baynes, Levent Aslan, Said Sehat and Wouter Helmig; a capella ensemble LeLeMam (www.lelemam.nl), international women’s choir Mihira and an instrumental ensemble led by accordionist Fred Abbingh. In their separate and collective offerings, the musicians will take the audience on a whirlwind world tour, closing the conference with a celebration of musical diversity.

Each year, Common Ground, an Australian NGO, stages an international conference on diversity. The 2005 conference took place in Beijing. The 2006 event was in New Orleans, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and focused on Human Rights, Diversity and Social Justice.

The 2007 conference, to be held in Amsterdam 3 through 7 July, 2007, will focus on Ethics, Justice, Business and Economics.
