Shaking the road – Shaking the future!

To celebrate the third anniversary of the Children’s Music Theater (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the children of Srebrenica and the surrounding villages traveled down the town's cobble-stone road to the springs in the surrounding woods.

Reclaiming the city
On Saturday September 18, 2010, the old road of Srebrenica was filled with life. Once a major tourist attraction and now all but forgotten, only the old road reminds of the town's past glory. But this day there were children everywhere, playing and learning at the various program points organized by Musicians without Borders, in cooperation with local youth NGOs: shaking the road!

A day to remember
Faces were painted, old friends were met and new friends were made, at an event that gathered children of all the region's religious and ethnic communities. The day ended in a big circle. A professional trainer started a rhythm and the rest of the song appeared by itself. The kids used the stones they had painted before for instruments.

Volunteers
At the end of the day, the 40 volunteers who had pulled everything together - all youth from the Srebrenica area - reflected on how easy it can be to organize events that bring happiness and peace to a town that deserves a future.
